Welcome

Happy Valentines Day from the Babes Of War!

The Babes of War is a Supergroup in City of Heroes, an online MMORPG created by NCSoft and Cryptic Studios.  We can be found fighting crime and keeping Paragon City safe on the Freedom server.

The Babes of War are the premier hottie heroines of the Freedom Server.  The group was founded on July 28, 2004 and was initially led by Blaze Storm and Tara Jewel.  Led today by Celtic-Knight, Heliphyneau, Molly Hackett,  Miss N Control, Wind Wench and a sassy group of talented and dedicated officers and members, the Babes have quickly established themselves as dominant crimefighters in Paragon City.  The Babes are well known for their frequent adventuring in large groups as well as their philanthropic endeavors ranging from tributes to fallen heroes (real as well as fictional) as well as the BEST HOSTS of parties and contests.  This includes the outrageously fun Simon Says game, that our very own Queen Ena created in 2005!

The Babes of War (BoW for short) also maintain many active Supergroups for alternate characters.  Pep Squad and Color Guard house members under level 15, as well as overflow alts of members in the main squad.   Angels houses our level 50s. The Men at Arms house our male alts. As most Babes have alts, there is often a senior Babe playing a more junior member.  Please note we do not recruit for any specific group directly, rather we accept applications from players with main female toons who are looking for an online family.  Specifically, we do not accept male toons into Men at Arms unless it is an alt of a current Babe of War.

Though many members of the group hold a very high Security Level, we are not power levelers.  We will very often exemplar down to help other Babes as well as any hero or heroine that may need our assistance.  We may spend several hours of time that could be spent arresting villains chatting and dancing in Atlas Park.  Babes of War place very special emphasis on good conversation and good team play.

Please Note:  Being in the "top 100" of prestige earners is not what makes a good SG.  The Babes of War are about family and friends.  If you are looking for an online home and not a bunch of PLers who force you to earn prestige and base advancements in the group on what you've earned, then look no further.  If you're into labels and PLing, then perhaps we aren't the right fit for you.

*SG Founded July 28, 2004*

The Essence of Family
Celtic-Knight, Dec 20, 06 12:32 PM.

Have you ever talked about City of Heroes, or for that matter any online game, to one of your friends or relatives (outside of the gaming community of course) and discussed the people that you’ve met in game? It’s usually a mixed reaction depending on how well versed they are about the Internet and the communities they foster.

I believe that it’s difficult for some to accept, or merely to understand, that one could develop such close relations with people they have never met face to face. There are people, including myself, who are quite shy once I step away from the keyboard, but the impersonal interaction that the monitor creates gives us an opportunity to be more open with others. Yes, there is the darker side to that impersonal nature. It’s inevitable, but for those of us blessed in finding people within our communities, the bad rarely affects us for too long, especially during the holidays.

And with the holidays, it brings forth many feelings for everything, some of it good and even some of it bad. We are all different people, and with that comes a multitude of different perspectives and different walks of life.

And that’s what makes everyone special!

The Babes of War are blessed to have so many people as part of our family. It is that community spirit we have with our members that makes City of Heroes much more then a game to us. It’s sharing time with friends, looking out for one another, and making sure that ear is turned in the proper direction for our sisters in need, even in our darker times. That is the true of essence of family, understanding and accepting our loved ones through all the trials and tribulations of being together online or at home.

So in this time of holiday cheer and good will, we wish our online family the ability to grow with one another in game throughout the New Year. For those Babes that have left us, you shall never be forgotten … And a special thank you to our families and friends whom we love very much!

Happy Holidays to all and have a healthy and safe New Year from the Babes of War!!!

Babes 2 – Council 0

Something sinister was brewing. Something big. Something REALLY big and it took the efforts of the Babes of War to sniff out what evil was afoot!

At this point, it’s probably safe to assume that Citadel has the Babes of War phone number on speed dial after all of the work they have done for him! So with one push of the button, duty rang once more and Queen Ena answered the call! (Quite literally in fact this time around!)

Forces were gathered quickly and TaskForce Platinum was born: Queen Ena, Shaded Rose, Blondestar, Darkhart, Magma Imp, Reptile Beauty, Uzzah and Blind Bobcat mowed down the Council and their fearsome robotic machinery. They came out victorious, as if there were any doubt, and put Vandal behind bars once more.

However, with his last words sent a shiver down Queen Ena’s spine. “You haven’t won! This is only the beginning Babes of War! The Council hasn’t lost yet! Soon Paragon City will be crushed under hundred of pounds of steel! INCLUDING YOU!!!” Which then Vandal proceeded to laugh uncontrollably until the Paragon Police department shoved him into a paddy wagon to shut him up.

His words weighed heavily on Queen Ena’s mind. She turned around and studied the Council Base that they were in. It hadn’t been completely shut down yet so the power was still on, allowing for a pleasant background hum. The rest of her teammates looked on curiously, wondering what their next move was. It was Darkhart that eventually cleared her throat to break the silence, wondering what they should do. Queen Ena looked at all of them with determination. “We’re going to tear this place apart and find out what they’re planning! If we’re lucky they haven’t destroyed all their files yet. Let’s move!”

The team tore into the facility, breaking into crates, hacking into the computers and tirelessly going through Vandal’s files. Reptile Beauty had found parts that were usually made for Mech Men. The only problem was that they were five times the size of the normal robots! Uzzah was the one that hit the jackpot and called everyone over to see what she had discovered into the Council Database. Everyone quickly gathered around the viewscreen and blanched!

What they saw was a giant Mech Man being assembled at a secret base on Striga Island. By the looks of it, if they didn’t put a stop to this plot the robot would be active in three days!

Quickly the Babes returned to base to figure out their next move. Striga Island was not all together huge, but an underground facility could take days of searching. They didn’t have the luxury of time. During the meeting Moonglimmer quickly stood up as something dawned on her! Ernesto Hess! He was a contact she met on Striga and wasn’t enamored with how their operations were running. Perhaps he would be the key to unlocking the whereabouts of the MegaMech!

It was the only place to start to give them enough time and Queen Ena assembled her team for the second time to face against the Council! She brought along, Miss Firefight, Uzzah, Miko Lin, Darkhart, Blondestar, Moonglimmer, Kick’n Kayla, D’orcha, Libbyator, Ms. Mysteria, and Handy Ma’am.

Thankfully Moonglimmer’s hunch proved fruitful! Hess was willing to work with Queen Ena and her team to take down the monstrous menace. The aberrant soldier helped provide enough intelligence so that the Babes could track down Archon Burkholder, the diabolical mastermind behind the construction of the MegaMech!

Before Burkholder’s creation was able to power up and be unleashed upon Paragon City, the Babes broke into their secret base! They fought hordes of Council, trying to bide the Archon time! Their efforts were in vain. The Babes defeated everything that Burkholder threw at them. Eventually they fought their way into the MegaMech’s staging ground, climbing the steel ramps, capturing Council Scientists to slow the launch further! 'Finally Archon Burkholder was forced to personally intervene. He was powerful, possessing far greater strength then even Vandal, but sheer numbers took him down and saved Paragon City from facing the wrath of the Megamech!

Cavern of Transcendence

The Hollows; a place teaming with magic and danger. It was created through shear stupidity on the Trolls part. All they wanted to do was blow out an area to expand their Superdyne infested fingers. Instead, they caved in more the half of the city. The Trolls looked on it as fortune and wanted to rule the area. Several other gangs thought similarly, but the Circle of Thorns had a more malevolent plan!

Silent Imp had heard that the Trolls kidnapped Lt. Wincott’s boy, Sam. Determined to rescue the Officer’s son, Silent Imp went back to the Babes of War base to find help and readily found it!

Dr. Ellement, Fifi Fujita, Lil NinjaGirl, Uzzah, Blondestar, Tsukikage, Freedom Fries along with Silent Imp, tracked down Sam, who was being held by the Troll leader Atta! After defeating their leader, they found out that the Circle of Thorns took the boy away! They were going to use Sam to locate the Cavern of Transcendence and take over the mystical portals buried underneath the Hollows.

The situation was dire and the trail had grown cold. Thankfully, the mystic Talshak was able to divine the location of the Cavern and point the heroes in the proper direction! After an epic battle with the Circle of Thorns, our hottie heroines destroyed the eight obelisks and became masters of the portal!

Just remember, whether it be gigantic robots, crazed Supa Trolls, or mystics trying to rule the world, the Babes of War will always snuff out baddies, look badass doing so and always save the day!

Kronos Titan

So how do you take care of a giant robot that has gone on a rampaging, homicidal, killing spree in Founders’ Falls? You pound on its giant metal feet until it submits!

The deep cover operatives known as Malta had unleashed their secret weapon! This was still no ordinary robot but a larger rendition of their might Zeus Class Titans! This enormous monstrosity was actually was controlled from the inside by a pilot. A more fearsome opponent then diabolical MegaMech!

Rest assured that the Babes of War and Freedom Reborn stopped the giant Mech before it move out of Hutchinson Park. Unfortunately a lot of damage was sustained in the park, much to the disapproval of the nearby Devouring Earth, but the Babes and Reborners quickly put an end to their grumbling prattle by beating them into submission too. The last thing the poor park needed was the beginnings of another Eden!

Double Experience Weekend Dinging 50 Madness!

We like to thank the Developers for giving us double experience weekend. Several of our Babes used the opportunity to level their character to 50 for the very first time as heroes or villains, some even for the second time!

Becoming a Hero of the City is not an easy feat. Time necessary to play can sometimes discourage people for reaching that peak, or more often then not when it comes to a Babe of War, they take time out of their busy 50 schedule to helps their family when called upon.

For Dielectra and Princess Tetsu their wait was finally over! The Babes of War wish to congratulate these two members in reaching the pinnacle of herodom for the first time! Remember, Squid is not for eating anymore!

Two other beloved members have reached the stardom of 50 once again. Moonglimmer and Blondestar, how ever did you reach 50 with so many Void Hunters and purposeful faceplants?

But then something disturbing was read in the Rogue Island Times! It seems that a couple of Widowmakers had achieved good standing with Lord Recluse himself and became Made! Miss Outa Control was the first ever member of the Babes of War to reach level 50 on the villain side. The scary part is, she did it BEFORE double experience weekend! An amazing accomplishment! This Cheerleader is more badge hunting and leveling crazy then High Beam herself! And if you know Beamers, then you realize just how insane Miss Outa Control is! (A name that fits perfectly!) Congratulations on your epic feat Miss N. Control!

The height of villainy wasn’t going to rest upon Miss Outa Control’s shoulders. Oh no! Soon her fellow Widowmaker, Raven Sinister, joined her! She was the first stalker to hit 50 for the villainous group. An impressive achievement as well! Grandville is a difficult zone to maneuver inside and it takes a lot of patience, or luckily flight, to fight the obstacles inside. Of course, Raven Sinister had the best of disguises to fool all of the Arachnos Henchmen… She posed as Ghost Widow herself! Freely taking her form, Raven Sinister even fooled Lord Recluse himself. An epic battle was waged between him and the Widowmakers but even in villainy, the Babes are victorious. Defeating Lord Recluse was enough to push Raven Sinister over the top to threat level 50!

Congratulations again! May all of your evil villainous ways continue to prosper in the Rogue Isles! And congratulations to all of our new 50’s!

New Babe Inducted!

Handy Ma’am has returned to the Babes of War after an initial hiatus. After waiting patiently within the Hopefuls, she is now a full fledged member again! Thank you for coming back Handy!!!
